Crew Member Names in CloudAhoy
If you are logging a flight (using the CloudAhoy app), or if you import a flight into your account, you must be a crew member on the flight. Your name must be entered as one of the crew members.
This rule is very important for your flights’ security and privacy. The flight’s crew members are the only owners of the flight. Only they can edit the flight, share it, or delete it.
A flight logged under your account will obviously be listed in your flight list. If you have entered a second crew member’s name (e.g., your student, your co-pilot, your CFI), then the flight could also be listed in that person’s flight list if that person is your buddy, or if you have entered the person’s email address. You can always edit the crew members’ names after the flight.
Editing the Pilot Names
If you are the owner of a flight, i.e., you are one of the crew members, you can edit the flight, modify parameters such as the aircraft’s tail number, and also modify the crew members’ names. You do this by selecting the flight in the Flights tab, and then clicking or tapping “Edit”.
As you start typing a crew member’s name, the system may suggest names from the list of your buddies. If you enter a name of a buddy, the flight will automatically appear in that buddy’s flight list. If the crew member is not a buddy of yours but has a CloudAhoy account, then entering the crew member’s email address will also make the flight appear in that crew member’s flight list. In both cases, the flight is now owned by both of you, and both of you can edit, share or delete it.
You can also enter a name that is not known to CloudAhoy. In that case, the name would appear in italics, indicating that you are the only owner of the flight.
